GRAHAM PARKER ‘Art Vandelay Tapes – Live One’
Lemon CDLEM76 (60:19) (2005)

Recorded live in Chicago in 1988, this Independence Day set features songs from across Parker’s then 12 year career, to much appreciation of the crowd.

Much bootlegged, it’s here on CD officially for the first time, with 2 bonus tracks and track by track annotation from Parker himself. A worthwhile package for fans before you’ve even played it!

Some decent 80s rock/pop, imagine an angry young singer/songwriter with a full band. Guitar led, the keyboards don’t go unnoticed. There’s an element of Costello in Local Girls, while Durban Poison is more reggae a la UB40.

Enjoyable music more essential to fans than the casual listener, and one of Lemon’s better packages.
