VHI BROADCASTS SEVEN AGES OF ROCK

Starting on Monday, December 17 Seven Ages of Rock will give viewers a history lesson in rock and roll. For seven straight nights, every night at 9pm, tune in to learn about a new period on the history of rock. Attached is a premiere release with descriptions and background on the show.

From the birth of rock to metal to alternative rock - there is a genre for every music fan - some that have stood the test of time and others that have not. This exclusive series will delve into what made each of these genres of music resonate with fans across the world.

Each of the seven episodes will take a deeper look into the individual ages of rock by evaluating the music itself -- breaking down key tracks, getting behind the songs and composing ideas, as well as looking into the social influences of the time and the social context that influenced the progression of the music. Throughout each episode viewers will hear from some of rock music's biggest icons including Keith Richards, David Bowie, Roger Waters, Lou Reed, Ozzy Osbourne, James Hetfield, Deborah Harry, Gene Simmons, Roger Taylor, Stewart Copeland, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt, Michael Stipe, Henry Rollins, Dave Grohl, Frank Black, Noel Gallagher and many more.

GRTR!'s Pete Whalley writes: "Any self respecting rock fan will have watched at least some of the episodes from this seven part series originally broadcast on BBC1/2 back in May 2007. A co-production between the BBC and VH1, the series is now making its US debut simultaneously on VH1 Classic Monday and VH1Classic.com, where it will also be archived for later on-demand viewing.

Categorising the progression of rock from My Generation, through art, punk, metal, stadium, alternative and indie, it makes for compulsive viewing. Narrated by Dennis Hopper and featuring icons such as Keith Richards, Bowie, Ozzy, Debbie Harry, Springsteen and many, many more.

With plenty of archive footage, there are only several downsides. First, there's the overuse of rock journalists who seem to think thier opinions count for as much as those who made the music, and secondly there's the omissions. OK, running out at around 50 minutes an episode, you can't fit everyone in, but My Generation - the episode that examines the birth of rock in the late 60's - remarkably would have you believe the Beatles played no part. At least it fails to give them so much as a mention.

But I'm nit picking. Flawed possibly, but essential watching."

DEMOLITION RECORDS ANNOUNCE THE WORLDWIDE SIGNING OF IRISH ROCKERS THERAPY?

The band has begun the writing process for their 12th studio album, which is scheduled for release towards the back end of 2008. The release will be supported by an extensive touring campaign.

The band recently commented on their new relationship with Demolition: "As mentioned in our end of year summary, after a long period of negotiating with quite a few labels, we've found a new home for THERAPY? with Demolition Records."

"We met the guys from DEMOLITION way back in October and to be honest we just clicked. We love the labels attitude and forward thinking. In an industry that doesn't seem to know what the next move is, Demolition are one of the few labels that are actually growing in stature whilst embracing the future of the music business".

Demolition Records have also announced the worldwide signing of North-East rock band, The Sound Ex (formerly The Sound Explosion).

The Sound Ex are Glen Roughhead (guitar and vocals), Kit Endean (guitar and vocals), Euan Macfarlane (bass guitar) and Stevie Gibson (drums). Formed in 2003 and inspired by music ranging from Stax to Shellac, Sun Records to The Sonics, Led Zeppelin to Hot Snakes, their music is a twenty-first century amalgamation of the fast and furious sound of punk rock and soul, with a side order of dirty blues and gospel.

The bands management, James Grant, commented "We're really excited that The Sound Ex have found what we feel is the perfect home for them in Demolition Records". "With such uncertain vibes emanating from a lot of labels at the moment, we have been nothing but impressed with the set up and ambition at Demolition". "It's run as a label should be, with absolute passion and hard work from the ground up"
