GAMMA RAY Land Of The Free II SPV (2007)
The sequel to 1995's 'Land Of The Free' sees Gamma Ray back at what they do best - power metal with big choir choruses and some stunning guitar solos.
In fact only the eleven minute epic 'Insurrection' lets the side down as it does lack an overall cohesion that an epic song needs to keep the listener's attention. But 'To Mother Earth' features a strong chorus, whilst 'Opportunity' harks back to their classic debut with its quick fire chorus and melodic guitar solos.
The opening two songs, 'Into The Storm' and 'From The Ages' are real heads down, no-nonsense metal anthems and will delight the band's fans that's for sure.
Like Helloween, Gamma Ray are back at what they do best and all the better for it. Power metal never sounded so good!
