WATERCLIME Imaginative Lion Music (2007)
Interesting mix here of prog and symphonic rock from Vintersorg main man Mr V.
Opener "Vision Or Void" features some great prog structures, touches of Eloy but a very strong Yes influence, with touches of AOR, like Alan Parsons. Augmented by some good jazzy drumming, it's a great track, although some of the top line keyboard is a little annoying.
Second track "Flashes" is very akin to Jethro Tull, with the beefed up and overly cleverness drum sound of Bill Bruford.
The vocal harmonies work well with the melodies on "Moonstream Portrait". Yes, really, you can get a good idea of the sound by the song titles. "Starshine Theater" (another Tull nod) and "A Journey To The Center Of The Soul" follow.
The guitar and keyboards et al are all excellent, but with one man doing everything you do lose some of the fluidity of that band feel. No drummer is credited, which is either a mistake or makes the programming very clever.
70s prog at the pomp end, with a 00s feel. Nice.
