VATICAN DC Make It Ride Red Flag Recordings (2007)
Punchy in-your-face pop with a harsh guitar sound and electrics too, they've already toured with The Prodigy if that gives you an idea.
Opener 'Wow' is rhythmic and harsh, while 'Sparks' is punkier. Mix The Buzzcocks with guitar pop!
In that remit there's some catchy and punchy hooks. 'Fountainhead' (being released as a single) has a great anthemic rock structure, but is a touch too trebly, jangly, otherwise the potential to be a hard rock classic. It has the right harmonies and a nice rhythm. That track alone, for its faults, is still well worth a listen. The keyboards work well too.
Some good tracks here, the bastardised punk influence making it better than most guitar pop albums I've heard.
