THE CURSED Room Full Of Sinners Locomotive Records (2007)
Full debut but this extreme metal collective; not quite a super group but in the most extreme way, almost.
Singer Bobby 'Blitz' Ellsworth is from Overkill, guitarist Dan Lorenzo (Hades), bassist Mike Cristi (Non Fiction) and bassist Job The Raver (Murder 1).
The album kicks off with 'Sweeter', with chunky Sabbath style riffs that here sound disjointed, I was about to stop there but the riff and rhythm in 'Evil In The Bag' more than rescue the situation.
This isn't extreme fast, but is extreme heavy and loud. Imagine Tank, the chunky end of Motorhead and touches of Black Sabbath. Not quite as extreme and slow like Candlemass, but you get the idea. All blended with the finesse of a Spanish whiskey.
In fact at times the singer sounds like he's just a few large shots a little too quickly!
The key change and riffs in 'Native Tongue' make for a good listen. 'Serpintine Slither' has it's bar-room blues/jazz touches and some heavy guitar, good guitar work inbetween.
In places a breath of fresh air for extreme metal, ordinary in others.
