SAGA Worlds Apart Revisited Inside Out/SPV (2007)
Modern prog rock; and before you think Marillion there's IQ and Pallas to think about too, and this live set recorded (as it sounds from the otherwise enthusiastic crowd reaction) in a small venue shows Saga are up there as well.
Plenty of keyboard lead melodies with guitar pounding out a riff lead rhythm; 'You're Not Alone' is worth checking out, great harmonies too and an Emerson/Lake/Powell touch too.
Yes, this is thinking man's metal; keyboards and guitars exchange both riffs and solos with a polished sound and tight performance. And the usual sing along in very extensive Dio fashion. If Yes or Asia did that you'd get the gist of this.
'See Then Smile' and 'The Runaway' follow to much applause. The 10 track disc 1 finishes with 'Framed', another classic modern prog number.
Disc 2 is 12 tracks - you get a complete catalogue work out here - takes in 'Time's Up', 'The Interview' and 'No Regrets', finishing with 'Careful Where You Step'.
Also available as a double DVD, this is a must for any Saga fan and worth investigating for the modern prog rock/metal fan too.
