PLANET X Quantum SPV/Inside Out (2007)

Planet X

Modern prog rock/metal, opening with the 7 minute 'Alien Hip Hop', a track for musos, intricate and at times heavy. Key and time changes aplenty, as also on 'Desert Girl'. A couple of keyboard bursts reminiscent of early Ron Geesin, some heavy riffs too. Some other keyboard/piano work reminiscent of Keith Emerson's anal end.

Touch of jazz fusion but not annoyingly so. 'The Thinking Stone' features some nice searing guitar.

While there are some excellent moments ('Space Foam' opens with a very heavy riff), if you think too hard it is quite hard to get into, especially as it is totally instrumental.
