ORCHESTRAL MANOEUVRES IN THE DARK Architecture & Morality CD/DVD EMI (2007)
A classic 80s pop band with a new wave touch, even a hint of new romantic in the early days.
This album, which spawned several top ten singles including 'Souvenir', 'Joan Of Arc' and 'Maid Of Orleans', now comes fully expanded; the audio CD features 7 extra tracks, the DVD features 3 promo videos and a 14 track live set.
Sleevenotes from band members too; if only more reissues were packaged like this.
The music is well produced and typical British pop of the early 80s, very electronic, layered keyboards, programming, and a hint of goth. Some nice melodies too.
It would be very easy to say it's over produced, but it's well enough put together, and in places catchy. That's why it was so popular, the aforementioned 3 singles sold 8 million copies between them.
Hardly rock'n'roll but important if you like a good range of pop rhythms and any kind of electronic pop. A reminder of my school days.
