TRIUMPH 'We Live For The Weekend The Anthology' Sanctuary CMEDD1089 (2CD)
Not one of Canada’s best known exports, but certainly one of the best. After Rush, Triumph (also a trio) produced some of the best hard rock of the late 70s and early 80s.
Sanctuary have recently acquired the rights to the Triumph back catalogue and kick things off with this fine compilation that covers live and studio work that shows how kick ass this band were.
There’s many of their best work here, and it rocks like power trio in true fashion. Never fashionable but hard working and certainly a great hard rock band.
The album also features the previously unreleased cover of Bryant’s 'Love Hurts' (a song made famous by Nazareth, and it’s in keeping with their arrangements).
Can’t quibble over the tracks, and the booklet is well annotated. Another solid package.
