SPHERE OF SOULS From the Ashes Lion Music LMC171 (2006)
Dutch metal with a serious Prog leaning. All six band members have virtuoso background, including with Sun Caged and Autumn Equinox. This concept album is their impressive debut.
The lines are heavy, complex and at times atmospheric. It’s rare to get a prog band with 2 guitarists and it works well here. There’s the occasional nod at Rush, but more often at much heavier work.
The keyboards sometimes get lost in the sound but when they do come through it’s a pleasurable sound.
A good start by any standards.
