RPWL Start The Fire SPV 48612CD
A double live CD of a hard progressive rock act will please many I’m sure. Opener Sleep, a 10 minute epic, moves from prog to ambient and back again, and Start The Fire follows suit well. From acoustic intros to gentle vocals, the set is tight, and pleasurable, although the applause is rather polite for a live set.
The use of keyboards works very well, and Ray Wilson makes a guest appearance too.
Various covers, including Syd Barrett’s Opel and Pink Floyd’s Cymbaline emphasise the prog influence, they fit in very well, as do several tracks in the 8-15 minute range.
Sadly not much chat from vocalist Lang. But it’s still an excellent live set.
As a bonus there’s the complete New Stars Are Born, previously unreleased in its original 12 minutes of glory.
