THE RAH BAND The Crunch And Beyond Repressed /Cherry Red REPEAT1 (2006)
Based around multi-instrumentalist / arranger Richard Hewson (with a Saxophonist and Drummer too) The Rah Band were a mid/late 70s synth pop band.
A nod at rock, but predominantly synth based. Opener The Crunch was a top ten single at the time, sounding quite glam. Think instrumental Glitter or Quatro on a glorious synth.
Plenty of catchy tunes and catchier if simple rhythms. Bonus track Jiggery Pokery was a single too. Yes it's kitsch in that 70s way but that's half the fun.
'Is Anybody There' is a touch reggae
Perversely enjoyable, if in small doses, a whole album's worth is just too much for me.
Well packaged and useful liner notes and bonus tracks too.
