POWER PROJECT Dinosaurs Powerzone Records (2006)
This near supergroup, as such, comprises drummer Vinny Appice, bassist Jeff Pilson, guitarist Carlos Cavazo and vocalist Carl Sentance.
Classic hard rock with a modern edge, the rhythm section is strong if not outstanding, but the vocals suit the music well, changing range power and pace well, and the guitar is similar, going from atmospheric to riffing to blistering and back again.
'Boats Of Despair' as a distinctive Sabbath feel, while 'War Is Over' is more galloping trad metal.
It’s easy to make both Sabbath and Maiden comparisons, and excellent though the music is, it isn’t strong enough (and nor is the production) to match up to those high standards.
Thoroughly enjoyable though.
