JOOP WOLTERS ‘Speed, Traffic And Guitar Accidents’ Lion Music LMC113(2004)

Multi-instrumentalist Wolters has played with various projects, and this is his second solo album, an instrumental set where he undertakes guitars, bass and most of the keyboards and drum programming.

Itıs a good modern set with some great tunes and some blistering guitar solos.

The pace moves from fast to slow and back again, with influences in places of Rush and Gary Moore. In that sense he does get his guitar to talk, but some of the tracks may sound too technical to flow easily. And 17 instrumentals in a row do need vocals or a more progressive arrangements to break it up. That said, itıs largely very enjoyable and this guy deserves checking out.
