FROM BEHIND Game Over Lion Music LMC176 (2006)

This new band's debut has some impressive pedigree. Vocalist Nicky Moore has played with Samson, Mammoth and Uli Jon Roth, and has an amazing voice, even on this, the most metallic project he's been involved with.

Guitarist Manny Charlton was a founder member of Nazareth and has influenced Axl Rose, Dimbag Darrell and a host of others.

The guitars are hard and gravely, while Moore's vocals are solid, bluesy, soulful, and spot on heavy metal. An unlikely yet brilliant combination.

'Catwalk' is catchy, sleazy, the twin guitar working well, the rest of the band backing up beautifully.

Despite Moore's bluesy background, he can growl and scream like a beast and matches Charlton's guitar perfectly.

The rhythm on 'What You're Doing' drives well, and the acoustic 'Picture' fits in well too. Charlton's industrial guitar makes the metal songs as heavy as a Mammoth without overdoing or overplaying anything. Perfect.

And excellent and original new metal album. Shame about the band name!
