DONALD FAGEN & WALTER BECKER You Gotta Walk It Like You Talk It El Records ACMEM79CD (2006)
This duo were central to Steely Dan, and both made many recordings outside the band.
This album is the soundtrack to the 1971 film of the same name that featured Richard Prior.
Mid tempo American rock with a singer/songwriter edge. Opener 'Dog Eat Dog' could easily have been sampled my Fatboy Slim, and while there are some interesting and good moments, few songs warrant listening to in their entirety – their atmosphere lends to a scene in a film (doing its job quite well) but as music on its own it’s not a good listen. I’ve heard Fagen do so much better.
