EMPIRE ‘Leeches’ Perris PER01452 (2004)

Not the Murray/Martin/Airey combo, this American set still produce some great hard rock.

The opening title track features a strong rhythm and decent guitar solos. Some Dio-esque keyboards add for a nice touch, making it probably the strongest track on the set.

Other tracks feature a strong Bon Jovi influence, while 38-Special and Fleetwood Mac get a look in too.

With no booklet of even tracklisting, I’m kind of in the dark information wise here, but to say this could be a strong seller is more fair. A couple of songs (tracks eight and nine) have interesting rhythms but rely a little too much on 80s AOR, but there’s some decent tunes along the way. Surprisingly enjoyable.

***½
