DORO Warrior Soul AFM 107-2 (2006)
The former Warlock has been out of the limelight for a while, and while Warlock were a lad laughable, her solo career has gone from strength to strength, if quiet at times. On this evidence it certainly needs to be taken seriously.
There are few cases where a voice can be described as smooth as silk, strong as steel, but the vertically challenged German Diva deserves the label here.
Musically the album is solid, strong, and most importantly confident. Yes it’s trad metal but it’s as good as any around. There are nods to 90’s Saxon, and maybe the heavy end of Bon Jovi in a positive way. They keyboards mix in well, adding atmosphere. The title track harks back to ELP’s Touch & Go.
A cracking set.
