BLUES TRAVELER Bastardos! Vanguard (56:36) (2005)
Over the last few years Blues Traveler have produced some fine rock/pop albums with blues leanings, and this, their eighth is no exception.
Not bowing to commercial sounds or productions, although the sound is more indie pop of the mid 90s; think Crash Test Dummies with a blues edge and without the deep vocals.
For mainstream rock and pop it’s a good listen because of its un-commercial edge and blues edges while keeping a mainstream sound. Playing with keys and time signatures breaks it up too. But the name implies more blues than there is.
The keyboards fill out the sound well yet doesn’t drown the guitar.
Thoroughly enjoyable yet nothing special.
