BAND OF JOY 24KCherry Red CDMRED285 (2006)

The band that once featured Robert Plant and John Bonham (and roadie Noddy Holder) in the 60s, recorded their debut album with a revised line-up in the late 70s (also available on Cherry Red).

This second album, barely released, is a far improvement on the first. Harder, heavier, touch of punk energy, succinct, and still with a 70s feel, it’s a far more enjoyable album with an improvement on the songwriting.

From pub rock to new wave hard rock, the feels come together nicely, with the guitar work standing out.

An undiscovered Gem from the tale end of the 70s and well worth investigating.

***½
