If you've seen PSYOPUS at all since the beginning of their Grinding Into Cataclysm tour that began in August, you October have noticed the new face on the stage. Well, here is the explanation. "After Harrison Christie's announced replacement, Matt Duckbirth, flaked out shortly after our press release of his joining the band, we replaced him with Brian. Brian was known as the vocalist from the Binghamton/Rochester, NY band As This Body, I Exist. We worked with him intensely, brought him into the studio and recorded the new album. This album was recorded with Brian. VERY shortly there after we jumped in the van and headed out for tour with War From a Harlots Mouth, Fu*k the Facts and Left to Vanish. Again, after the premature press release that Matt was joining our band, we wanted to make sure that Brian was indeed the kat for the band before we made it "official". As it was only us and Ensiferum playing we were able to play a slightly longer set and we did as many as five new songs. It's always a bit nervous playing the new songs as you don't know how people are going to react to them if they haven't really heard them before, but the songs we played really went across well with the audience. It was a really tough show for us though as we were suffering from severe jetlag, but at the end of the day all went well and we had a blast on stage. We've used both growls and clean vocals in our music since day one, and with each album we've pushed the envelope of what you can do vocally in a metal band to the point where a lot of the songs on Holographic Universe would be hard if not impossible to sing live. So the question is: Is it really possible to push the vocals even further and manage to perform everything live? The answer is YES! Instead of hiring a new singer, we decided - some of you might already have figured it out by now - to recruit TWO singers! The idea of having two vocalists in the band is something that's been in the back of our minds for a long time, and after auditioning and rehearsing with two of Sweden's best vocalists we're thrilled, excited, stoked-beyond-belief!
