MANNY CHARLTON 'Sharp'
www.mannycharlton.com (2005)
Former Nazareth guitarist Manny has certainly been prolific, and yet another full album available through his website.

Manny takes on vocals, guitar and bass with aplomb. Opener 'Muddy Water' is a great kick-off, and the style mixes acoustic and electric, blues, metal, new wave and, well, it’s just Manny. Three minutes in and above the strumming you get a typical Manny guitar solo. Not shredded, it’s just a lovely piece of guitar work.

'My Baby Left Me' continues in a similar vein, and proves you don’t need to let rip on an electric to get a great sound or produce some excellent layering.

'All Along The Watchtower' is one many will recognise, yet the album’s highlight is Nazareth’s 'Please Don’t Judas Me', done with some excellent slide guitar. Dark, moody and atmospheric, it’s essential listening, Nazareth fan or not.
