1. What are you currently up
to? |
At the moment all the focus is getting the album to and talking to as
many people in the media/radio/internet sites/independent stores in
the UK, Europe, America and Japan!! so as you can imagine its pretty
mad at the moment. Gig wise we can't wait to get going and there are a
few things in the pipeline but nothing is confirmed, but as soon as we
know.... it will be on Quecia.com
|
2. Who were your
influences? |
We have all brought something different to the melting pot which is
why the songs can be eclectic in style, personally over the last two
years I have really delved into the classic rock bands of the 70's in
particular Deep Purple, Led Zep and Rainbow! I'll listen to all
different types of music and from a female vocalist point of view I
like Sheryl Crow/Alanis Morisette.
|
3. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career to
date?
|
Highlight - Headlining for the CRS after being stuck in the studio for
months on end!!!
P ALIGN=JUSTIFY>
It was just an amazing night the crowd was buzzing, singing the songs
back to us and going beserk even with our brand new material. It felt
electrifying on stage and all the band felt the same!
Lowlight - where shall I start!! Let's just say its not been a good 18
months. I'm not going to moan on but lets just say we have been
through Hell (brand new studio equipment burning out losing virtually
a completed album!) and High Water (our office/home flooded
destroying quite a few of the first album and generally making life a
misery) But we have got there in the end!!!
|
4. What would Quecia like to achieve ideally by the end of 2004?
|
Hmmmm...we are tired of being stuck in the studio so we hope to do
loads more on the live front. Sell bucket loads of albums and the
usual worldwide domination!!! (or that might just be me!!!)
|
5. How have the reviews to your debut album been so far? Were you
please with the press and fans reactions to the debut CD?
|
We had excelllent reviews of the first album although we progressed
in the live shows to a point where we are all comfortable now.... and
that showed in the ensuing live reviews i.e how much rockier and more
powerful we are, than captured with This is where we are.. it's all
been positive and I think we just developed over time (it's been 3
years now!) I think we have captured our sound well with Quecia II!!!
and that seems to be reflected in the response we have had so far.
|
6.
The new album, 'II' is out now - what is your personal song
highlights and why?
|
This changes on a daily basis depending on my mood!!! I think Rhythm
is brilliant and really atmospheric but I also love Hide Away and Bird
in a cage you can really move to them.
|
|
7.
How has the music and songwriting differed from the debut album?
|
We have very much tried to capture the power of our
live performances, a lot of the songs had been written well in
advance and we were used to them, however we were always trying to
improve on them to a point where we were driving ourselves insane. So
in the end we had to take a step back and get someone else's opinion.
Once we were finished it was great to just sit back listen to other
people's reactions and really get into the songs from a listener's
point of view.
|
8. What has been the live highlight(s) for the band? How easy/hard is
it to get gigs and promotion for gigs?
|
This is a grey area for us, ideally we would like someone else to get
involved with that side of things.
The Classic Rock Society Gigs are always superb and we really enjoy
doing them, we might have missed the boat on most of the summer
festivals but that won't stop us trying.
It is difficult for an original band to just phone a venue and book a
gig, unless you are happy playing to one bloke and his dog!!! On a
Wednesday night and paying for the privilege!!! So when we do gig we
try to be pro-active, posters, local newspaper/radio gig guide
etc..p.s if anyone out there would like to get involved though on
that score give us a shout!!!
|
9.Do you see the interest in rock & metal music growing in the UK at
the moment? /B> |
Very much so!!! Though mainstream telly and radio it is being dragged
kicking and screaming, it seems that the whole independent way and
underground scene is really vibrant, and you have to thank The
Darkness for shining a big light on Rock Music whether you love them
or hate them (personally what is there not to love!!) justin x
We love playing and we enjoy it - that shows on stage I think people
are ready to swing in that direction and lets not be so serious. This
is Rock and Roll!!!
|
10. What's the most rock 'n' roll moment the band has had so far?
|
House of Blues Las Vegas, The Foo Fighters, Eric Idle and some very LARGE margaritas..........What a combination, what a night!!!!
|
11. What CD's do you currently have available and where can they be
purchased from?
|
Both This is where we are and Quecia II are available at
www.quecia.com and Quecia II is also available in selected Music Zone
stores in the North West of England.
|
12. Message to your fans? |
Sorry we have been tucked away for so long! it was Paul's fault!!
See you on the road!
