1. What are you currently up
to? |
We are busy writing new songs and putting together a radio
promotion plan for the US!
|
2. Brief history of the band and the style of music you play |
We play classic rock with a modern approach.
|
3. Who was/is are the biggest influences on your career?
|
The cool thing about this band is that we all cut our teeth on
the same types of music. Being that I'm from the American south
(Florida), I was probably influenced more by blues & "real" country
than the rest of the guys who are all Canadian. That said, we all
grew up on Led Zep, AC/DC, Deep Purple, etc...the right stuff.
|
4. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career to date?
|
The high point has to be the recording of our first album with
Producers Jimmy Johnson & Steve Melton (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rolling
Stones,Cry of Love..) down in Muscle Shoals, Alabama! It was a very
heady experience recording in the same studio where they cut the
Stones "BROWN SUGAR", and all of that early Skynyrd stuff! The
barbecue was world class as well..HAHAHA! I can't think of any low
points...
|
5. What would King Karma like to achieve ideally by the end of 2004?
|
We are actively putting a radio promotion campaign together
for the western US and Canada where we can begin our push into
America. We would also like to have a solid
label/promotional/Management team in place soon, as this baby is
getting to big to handle by ourselves! We are open to any reasonable
offers... we have a very serious work ethic.
|
6. How have the reviews for the album been so far? (It is a well-crafted
piece of classic hard rock IMHO - mix of 70's Bad Company and
Badlands) |
We have been blown away by all of the positive feedback we've
gotten so far from all over the world! We do get those comparisons,
however I believe we just have that magical chemistry as a band where
that kind of vibe can breathe. I'm very happy to see bands like The
Darkness doing so well..and their success was not a manufactured
thing..it is the result of lot's of hard work, a little magic, and
the knowlege of what good music is. Thanks Justin!

7. What has been the live highlight(s) for the band? |
We have a great time when, and wherever we are able to play.
|
8. Any plans for dates in Europe/Far East at all? Which bands would you
like to tour with?
|
Our CD was released in Europe on Z Records May 10th. Hopefully
they will do their job and we can get over there. I spent many years
touring in Europe and can't wait to bring this band across the pond!
We will tour with just about anyone, as long as it makes sense and
for a great show....King Karma and some nu-metal band would just piss
us and everyone else off.
|
9. Do you see the interest in rock & metal music growing in the US &
Canada at the moment? What bands do you admire and/or are an
influence? |
I don't think it ever went away..it has just been over-shadowed
by the current trends like rap..nu-metal,etc...now that those things
have lost any integrity they might of had by being so massively
commercialized, we can now go back and start all over...just my
opinion of course...we don't follow trends, we want to set them!
|
10. What's the most rock 'n' roll moment the band has had so far?
|
Bass player Todd Ronning sitting on a pig in front of a barbecue joint in Alabama strumming a ukelele.
|
11. What CD's do you currently have available and where can they be
purchased from?
|
Our CD is available in stores in Europe on Z records. The
cheapest way to go however is on our website...we have a very
friendly and eager staff ready to send them out 24-7! We also have T-
shirts, hats, etc. Please come and visit our website.
|
12. Message to your fans? |
Thank all of you great Rock n Roll maniacs for all of your
encouragement and support! You are the reason we do this, and we look
forward to seeing as many of you as possible very soon! Live loud and
keep the fire burning!
