JAY TAMKIN Alibi Nova (2011)
This is Jay Tamkin's second album and although you may not be familiar with his name, he has already toured with the likes of Eric Burdon, Pat Travers and many more.
Although he tours with his band, on this album he plays the majority of the music himself bar some drums and oragn/piano parts. Blues rock has had a renaissance of late with Joe Bonamassa's success seeing a whole raft of young players come through including Beth Hart, Chantel MacGregor, Aynsley Lister and add to this Jay Tamkin.
Starting off with the upbeat, radio friendly 'Going Out Tonight' it sets the scene nicely for the rest of the album. 'Dancing In The Rain' drops the pace a little, but still has one hell of catchy chorus.
A little gospel is added into 'You've Got The Heart', whilst a song like 'Circles' shows he has the guitar playing to match his impressive vocals.
If you think blues rock is for old men, think again as this album will change your opinion. Chock full of variety, tasty guitar and strong tunes, Jay Tamkin has proved he is one to watch over the coming years.
