THE WRIGHTS Red And Yellow, Blue And Green (2010)
Red And Yellow, Blue And Green is another attempt to kick start the misfiring musical career of husband and wife singer/songwriter duo Adam and Shannon Wright.
Originally from Atlanta, the couple moved to Nashville in 2002 to take advantage of family 'connections' (Adam's uncle is country singer Alan Jackson), where under the watchful eye and guidance of Jackson they produced a debut album released as joint venture with RCA.
But that didn't prove to be a marriage made in heaven and RCA decided to put on hold, and ultimately not to release, the follow-up The Wrights, an album eventually released on Alan Jackson's label.
That was followed in 2007 by the self released In The Summertime, an album of stripped back covers recorded 'live' in the studio. Red And Yellow, Blue And Green sees the couple back in the song writing saddle and you certainly can't knock their enthusiasm or persistence.
Unfortunately, pleasant as the album is, it's not going to set the heather on fire. It's an unassuming folk / country album, well played and produced and with Shannon's harmony vocals having, at times, an almost Stevie Nicks feel. Never less than easy on the ear, it just doesn't grab you in the privates, but will no doubt stand the couple in good stead on the folk / country circuit.
