SINOCENCE Scar Obscura Metalbox Recordings (2010) www.sinocence.co.uk
Second album from this heavy metal band, and although released last year, the band were unhappy with distribution so it is re-released here on a self financed label, with new management in place. This reissue contains the original 10 tracks and a new multimedia section.
A gentle yet well worked intro with tribal drumming builds up to a very heavy mid paced number with some fast riffs and, at times a Maiden nod. Yet this is very heavy without being either too retro/trad or too extreme. Lots of trad influences but they are taken a step further and much heavier.
The vocals are strong and there's a slight punk ethos to the rhythm, only a LOT bigger in sound.
'Metal Box' kicks off fast, with quite a rough sound. We're nearly in power metal territory but it's too modern in sound to use such a trad term. The guitars and bass work well together and the vocals are powerful if a tad rough.
There are some good tracks here, a couple of rough edges that, once tidied, would make this excellent.
Metal Hammer love this band and it's not surprising.
