DENNIS LOCORRIERE Post Cool (2010)
So how do you pronounce 'Locorriere'? At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter because Dennis goes by the name 'The Voice of Dr Hook'.
I can hear audible groans now from the GRTR! readers, but let's be fair - most of us are married (yes, most of his fans are predominantly middle aged housewives), and sadly most of us can probably sing along, word perfectly, to Sylvia's Mother.
So what do you do when you've had 60 gold and platinum albums in 42 different countries? The answer is simple - don't give up the day job. So in Dennis's case that means - do your own thing, at your own pace, and make the most of your assets.
In this day and age, and for an artist like Dennis Locorriere, that means regular touring (he's played to over 900,000 people in the UK and is currently in the midst of a 36 date UK tour) with the occasional album release to boost post gig merchandising sales.
So Post Cool is only his 3rd solo album, released to coincide with the current tour. It features 13 self penned numbers recorded with a clean mic and a relatively stripped back sound covering all the usual bases form slushy ballads, acoustic based AOR balladry, storytelling heartbreakers, ragtime blues and bouncy up-tempo dancehall. Something for everyone, even me - because the best number by a mile is the bluesy The Sound Of A Train.
Post Cool may not set the charts alight, but post gigs it's going to be flying off the shelves. A smart dude, Dennis Locorriere. ***
