BUCKET & CO Guitars,Beers & Tears JCPL (2010)
Dave 'Bucket' Colwell (hence the band's name) releases his debut solo album, having been longtime guitarist with Bad Company and 6 string journeyman with a long CV.
This album is a fine collection of classic and melodic rock, and features more name guests and, well, probably any other album released this year.
The title track opens with aplomb and pace, while 'Girl Of My Dreams' is a melodic keyboard / guitar anthem with a big sound and husky vocals from Quireboy's Spike.
A more melodic metal track which will please many is 'Make Up Your Mind', featuring vocals and guitar from Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith. Smith also appears on the Colwell penned 'Reach Out', which Iron Maiden have previously recorded as a single b-side.
Other guests include Judd Lander (Harmonica for Jeff Beck, Paul McCartney et al), Danny Bowes (Thunder), Steve Conte (NY Dolls) and country star Tommy Lee James.
Solid melodic hard rock, swirling keyboards, guitar solos, and guests aplenty, this is one fine album well worth checking out.
