TEAZE One Night Stands (2-CD) Rock candy (2009)
Back in the 70s and 80s, the Canadian hard rock scene exploded with the likes of BTO, Rush, Triumph and April Wine. Teaze were largely overlooked, which is a shame when you listen to this 1979 album. It's a superb slice of poptastic hard rock, which at the time drew comparisons to Kiss, Aerosmith, Angel and Cheap Trick.
Hard touring and some great riffs led to popularity in many territories, including Japan, which led to a deal with Capitol.
This bright hard rockin' set is energetic, and a slight nod to the big hair FM music that was to follow in the 80s. 'Heartless World' changes the pace with an acoustic feel, while 'Boys Night Out' is a heads down rocker, a real stomper with catchy riffs and a great guitar solo.
Production from April Wine's Myles Goodwin helps the sound.
Bonus tracks and extensive notes, it's well worth a punt.
