ROBERT BERRY The Dividing Line Frontiers (2008)
Robert Berry is a living melodic rock legend. He played for GTR and has worked with 3 and Emerson and Palmer, and recently his excellent AOR project Alliance has been highly received; their latest album 'The Road To Heaven' is one of 2008's finest AOR releases.
Basically, what you've got with his latest studio album (his third to date) is a brilliant collection of songs with a wonderful first class production. It's just great sounding eighties style American melodic rock and Berry, as usual, sounds fantastic.
'Listen To The People' and 'This Life' are great tracks and part of the reason why 'The Dividing Line' sounds so fresh and vital. The guitars are sharp and the choruses are infectious.
'One Good Man' has an almost Celtic vibe that is as refreshing as a glass of lemonade on a sunny day and the closing track 'Life Is On Fire' has a progressive edge that adds depth.
Berry is a true AOR star and this album shows exactly why that is so. Above all else, it's just a really enjoyable release that begs for constant listens. If you like classic Foreigner, Journey and Toto you'll find a lot of pleasure in this album. It will definitely be a hit with lovers of this kind of music.
