NINE INCH NAILS AND THE INDUSTRIAL UPRISING Chrome Dreams (2009)
|
Industrial metal primer...
This documentary charts the rise of the industrial metal scene in the UK (with bands like Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire) and the US with a particular emphasis on the legendary Nine Inch Nails led by Mr Trent Reznor.
There's some good background info on the bands that inspired the scene namely Depeche Mode who are in a league of their own, quite frankly. There's lots of rare footage featuring Skinny Puppy and Ministry et al and some interviews with key players.
Much of the footage has already been seen before so it's not an official documentary of any sort but that doesn't really matter. There are also interviews with rock journalists such as Tommy Udo who's written a book on NIN.
It's a good time to view a documentary on NIN given that their about to tour the UK with Jane's Addiction. The enthusiast may already know what much of what this documentary explores but the casual fan will find some interest and enjoyment from an historical perspective.
