Just witnessed your
best live gig?.. send us a review!
NEIL YOUNG
Nottingham Trent FM Arena, 23 June 2009
Neil walked onstage to deafening applause and immediately tore into Hey
hey My My...My God, the sound was awesome in it's depth and
fullness....This was going to be some night...
We were treated to songs old and new with many twists on old favorites
like a full blown electric version of Pocahontas.
Here's a man who can play in a way that most guitarists one third of his
age could never hope to achieve...
He must surely have made a pact with Satan as he's never sounded as good,
to say he's on top of his game would be an insult...
"Old Black " screamed and howled as if it were being dragged through the
gates of hell...
Rockin In The Free World closed the set and it's the best version I've
heard...not the slow chugging version he does with Crazy Horse , but a
beefed up speedier version like the original track on Freedom...
He came back onstage for the Beatles "A Day In The Life"...That was it,
over. We went away in wonderment how a man of his years can play
with such ferocity and eagerness...
This was without doubt the best gig I've ever attended and if I should die
tomorrow then it'll be as a happy man.
