MITCH MALLOY Live From Rock City Firefest/Transistor (2009)
Limited edition Firefest triumph ...

Mitch Malloy

Firefest is now a major annual melodic rock event here in the UK. Held at Rock City in Nottingham, Firefest is responsible for reuniting bands FM, Tyketto and Valentine as well as bringing Bonfire and House Of Lords (and loads of other bands) over to the UK.

But the costs of running the festival have been huge and one way of trying to recoup money and break even - thus ensuring another festival - is by releasing live albums and DVDs. We've already seen a live album by House Of Lords and a DVD by Valentine, now we get Mitch Malloy's first ever DVD. Who is going to grumble with that?

'Live From Rock City' was recorded at Firefest V on 26 October, 2008. The quote from Malloy on the back cover says, "The fans were the real stars of this video and I insisted that they get a lot of camera time." Indeed they do - it's a pleasure to watch so many smiling faces in the crowd.

Malloy and his band - guitarist Tommy Denander, bassist Victor Borden and drummer Magnus Ulfstedt - are fantastic and Malloy's voice is in great shape. It looks like he really enjoyed being back in the UK.

The set-list is only 12 tracks long but it does include wonderful performances of 'Middle Of Nowhere' and 'Anything At All.' The picture and sound quality are excellent. Copies are limited, so hurry. Visit www.thefirefest.com.
