MARKONEE See The Thunder Escape Music (2009)
Italian band Markonee are a good solid melodic rock band whose new album is full of catchy songs with massive hooks and choruses, harmonies a plenty and driving guitars. 'See The Thunder' is the bands 2nd album and is mixed by Beau Hill (Ratt, Winger, Alice Cooper), who has done a great job as the album sounds superb turned up loud but without being over produced.
Vocalist Gabriele Gozzi has a powerful voice and handles singing in English so well that you wouldn’t know that it isn’t his natural language. Combine this with the guitars of Stefano Peresson and Carlo Benvilacqua Ariosti (who was also the album’s executive producer) and what you have is a consistently strong record.
Markonee’s sound has elements of Danger Danger, Firehouse and the likes, but without trying to replicate their sound like some newer bands do. Highlights on the album include title track 'See The Thunder', 'The Big K', 'The Cross Between The Lines' and 'Back On Top'. The only weak track on the record is also one of the heaviest on the album- 'I Believe In Father Christmas'.
'See The Thunder' is well worth checking out if you are a fan of this genre of rock.
