JOHN 5 Remixploitation Mascot Records (2009)
Former Marilyn Manson, and current Rob Zombie, guitarist John 5 has previously released 4 solo albums and now brings us 'Remixploitation'- an album of remixes taken from tracks across the previous 4 albums.
This 10 track collection is virtually all instrumental, and all remix- hence the title. The cover to the CD is a tribute to Hendrix’s 'Electric Ladyland' album, quite fitting as John has cited Hendrix as a major influence throughout his career.
So, what about the songs? Well, there are some outstanding tracks, such as Bob Marlette’s re-working of 'The Lead Sprinkler' (which actually conjured up visions of Ibiza on crack), others include 'Dorsia', 'Unbelievers', 'Shoot The Dog' and 'How Do You Like It?'.
This album will no doubt appeal to fans of John 5, however, a simple best of would be the next logical step should he want to attract a new legion of followers.
Currently recording with southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd, it will be interesting to see what career path this versatile guitarist, and in demand songwriter, takes next.
