IMPELLITTERI Wicked Maiden Metal Heaven (2009)
In amongst the explosion of shred and speed guitarists in the 80’s Chris Impellitteri for me was one of the most accessible to the casual listener as he had an emphasis on melody and composing melodic tunes rather than solo all over the place just for the ‘look at me’ factor.
Joining him on many of the releases was vocalist Rob Rock who happily is one this new album having found time between his busy schedule of solo albums, Driver and more. Joining these two are a water tight rhythm section of bassist James Pluti and drummer Brandon Wild.
This is classic metal with just the right amount of solos (you can’t help but be amazed at the speed and fluidity of some of the guitar solos on here).
There is even a very catchy, very commercial melodic rocker in ‘Eyes Of An Angel’. This would have been a massive radio hit in the 80's. In fact the album gets better as it progresses with ‘The Vision’ and ‘High School Revolution’ as good as anything Impelliteri have produced previously.
If you liked Chris Impellitteri’s previous albums then this latest one doesn’t disappoint and harks back to the classic 80’s output. Massive production matched by massive guitar solos and vocals. For classy melodic metal with some jaw dropping guitar solos look no further!
