DAN BAIRD & HOMESWEET SIN Dan Baird & Homesweet Sin Jerkin' Crocus (2008)
Dan Baird is a well-known name to those familiar with the southern American country rock scene. Dan Baird is known for the eighties outfit Georgia Satellites, a band that notched up some UK hits with the singles 'Keep Your Hands To Yourself' and 'Battleship Chains' taken from the EP 'Keep The Faith.'
The band toured Europe and won rave reviews but then the nineties hit and they split-up. Baird went solo and took part in the group The Yayhoos. Dan Baird & Homemade Sin have already toured Europe and even released a double live CD 'Feel So Good' and a DVD/2 CD live set called 'Fresh Out Of Georgia Live Like A Satellite.'
However, it is only now that they have released their debut studio album. The band currently consists of Dan Baird, guitarist Warner E. Hodges (who replaced Ken McMahan,) bassist Keith Christopher and drummer Mauro Magellan. It's quite a laidback album with some wonderful touches of the blues and some soulful vocals.
It really gets to the core of the American South. Songs like 'Crooked Smile' and 'Well Enough Alone' are finely composed. It lacks a standout track but the production is pristine and the musicianship cannot be questioned.
