CIRCUS OF POWER Circus Of Power Rock Candy (2009)
Late 80s, Grunge was a year or two away from destroying metal, and the music scene was rife with the west coast sleaze of Motley Crue, G'n'R et al. So what chance a no frills tattoo covered biker metal band from New York City? Well, Circus Of Power pulled it off with this, their 1998 RCA debut.
If you wanted heads down knees up dirty biker rock'n'roll with a hint of boogie, blues and sleaze, this was heading in the right direction.
Often moody and equally gritty, it's far more honest than their big haired Los Angeles counterparts. 'Motor', 'White Trash Queen' and 'Call Of The Wild' are all heavy and riff led, and even 'Needles' with its piano intro soon beefs up strongly. This four piece made some solid hard rock.
Nine sound self penned tracks, and a good cover of Iggy Pop's 'Crazy', and then there's the superb Rock Candy packaging and annotation, and four bonus tracks to boot.
Well worth checking out.
