CARLO LITTLE ALLSTARS Never Stop Rockin Angel Air SJPCD283 (2009)
Before I tell you about the album, let me tell you a little bit about Carlo. Who drummer Keith Moon was taught to play by him and the Stones wanted him but he turned them down (he did play some early gigs with the band and also stood in for Charlie Watts on occasion). In the Sixties he could be found behind the kit with both Cyril Davies All Stars and Screaming Lord Sutch's Savages.
In later life he could be found on his burger van in the shadow of Wembley Stadium - don't be fooled though, he continued playing throughout and it was in the late ‘90's that he formed Carlo Little Allstars. The band recorded 'Never Stop Rockin'' in 2000 and it featured the likes of Art and Ronnie Wood, Procul Harum's Matthew Fisher and Long John Baldry.
Highlights on the album include a great version of the classic 'It's All Over Now' (a song that was a hit for The Stones back in the ‘60's), 'Born In The Country' and title track 'Never Stop Rockin''- both written by Little, the latter featuring some Chuck Berry-like guitar, and 'Country Line Special' a lively instrumental featuring Ronnie Wood on lead guitar (the song was the first hit Carlo played on with Cyril Davies).
Unfortunately, Carlo Little passed away in 2005. But let me tell you another story about Carlo - someone told me a few years ago that he measured success by the number of radiators you had in your house!! Brilliant, Carlo Little was a legend amongst those who knew him and this CD will keep that memory alive.
