AUTOGRAPH That's The Stuff Rock Candy (2009)
Another 80s gem long overdue on CD; Autograph’s second album (originally issued in 1985 on RCA) is a prime slice of American hard rock, mixing AOR with big haired glam metal.
Despite the pressures from the label to get the second album out and a looming tour, the album turned out incredibly well. The opening title track is very strong and “Take No Prisoners” hints to Motley Crue, sound rhythms, a catchy chorus, it’s got all the AOR melody and glam rock hooks.
The band featured vocalist / guitarist Steve Plunkett, lead guitarist Steve Lunch, pianist Steven Isham, bassist Randy Rand and drummer Keni Richards.
The balance of polished melodic hard rock and glam was spot on, yes it’s commercial but rightly so.
Great remastered sound, extra track, lengthy and informative sleevenotes, def one for any rock collection.
