TWISTED SISTER Live At The Astoria Demolition (2008)
For a band with a remarkably short career and catalogue (5 or 6 albums at most) back in the early 80s, this band have done remarkably well, and quite rightly are highly revered.
This 2004 concert will not only please fans you have missed out on the reformation, but also serve as good an introduction as any; a chance for rockers and those curious to see what all the fuss was about.
Twisted Sister were 80s American trad metal touched with sleaze and glam, and although some songs were anthemic and catchy (Remember the hit single "I Am I'm Me?) they were a far cry from the commercial big hair stuff. Yes they had big hair and makeup but they rocked with it.
Still tight, still heavy, this live show opens with "What You Don't Know" and runs through some classics and more. "The Kids Are Back" and "Under The Blade" go down well, and it's great to see some tracks from the underrated Come Out And Play album, including the title track and "The Fire Still Burns". And the aforementioned "I Am I'm Me" goes down well, a metal classic and a good guitar solo too.
Both audio and visual, a classic solid metal performance.
A potential classic, a sure fire winner. Top Marks, but a point off for the lack of any extras on the DVD, and the inexcusable omission of "Stay Hungry".
