STARBREAKER Love's Dying Wish Frontiers (2008)
This CD picks up from where the band's self-titled debut album left off back in 2005. The production (by Tony Harnell and Magnus Karlsson) is modern, vibrant and big. From the first song 'End Of Alone' to 'The Close' there are shifts in tempo, mood, pace and sounds. It's a quality release that stands out from a lot of mundane stuff that is being made at the minute.
The Starbreaker line-up is singer Tony Harnell, guitarist Magnus Karlsson, bassist Fabrizio Grossi and John Magaluso. Harnell sounds great and some of the songs here must surely be amongst the heaviest stuff Frontiers has put out: just check out 'Evaporate.'
Karlsson is one of the best guitarists in the melodic rock community and he plays with incredible precision; not only that but his musical talents are also on display as he plays the piano and string arrangements.
'Love's Dying Wish' is probably going to be one of the year's better melodic rock releases simply because of its originality and the enjoyment factor is very high. These guys know how to deliver the goods but at the same time they try new ideas and use their imagination with lots of confidence.
