SOUL DOCTOR That's Live Metal Heaven (2008)
New live album from Soul Doctor, recorded in Europe between 2005 and 2007; solid hard rock performed tightly.
"Blood Runs Cold" is a good opener, and "Under Your Skin" has a sleazy feel, a nod at Skid Row, and a good guitar solo too. A soul/funk hint too.
"Good Times Slippin' Away" is a solid number that nods at Iron Maiden, and the melodic / commercial "Temptation" has its Whitesnake moments.
Tracks like "Eatin' On Me" have an 80s feel, with a glam catchiness to the chorus. For the metal, rock and soul moments, there is a commercial edge.
Between some songs the singer has a stab at German - nice touch.
"Unspoken Words" is a solid melodic number and opens with a guitar solo too. "Get It On" is another lengthy number, running at over 7 minutes, and is superb. The guitar really gels. Mainstream metal on stage at its best.
13 tracks and not one bad number, although the mix is a little variable, with vocals and guitar at different times suffering, but a good set all the same.
