ROULETTE Better Late Than Never AOR FM (2008)
AOR-FM are a new re-issue label based in the UK and they have collected the singles and demos of Swedish melodic rockers Roulette, who despite some good songs never released a full album and from the 90's through to now became a Def Leppard covers band instead.
For lovers of classic Scandinavian AOR this band have it all with keys, big hook filled choruses and plenty of short but sweet guitar solos. Songs like 'Run Girl' sound like the mighty Valentine whilst other songs reminded me of Honeymoon Suite, like the keyboards led 'Only The Strong'.
They are great at their harmonies too (no wonder they are a Def Leppard covers band). 'Give Me Some Affection' and 'Evangeline' are good expamples of their harmony filled melodic rock. The latter songs on the disc are okay but nothing special - the best is packed at the start of the CD.
Good example of 80's Scandi melodic rock/AOR, not as good as Europe but certainly worthy of further investigation.
