NIGHT RANGER Rockin' Shibuya 2007 Frontiers (2008)
It sure comes as a surprise to learn that this is the first ever full live CD from Night Ranger, one of the great melodic rock bands. Consequently, it's quite an exhaustive set: 2 CDs with 20 songs.
The line-up history of the band is just too complicated to give details on, but suffice it to say the line-up on this CD is the core trio of Jack Blades, Kelly Keagy and Brad Gillis with Michael Lardie on keyboards and guitarist Reb Beach. They sound great, that's for sure. And they also sound like they had a hell of a light of fun that night.
There are five new songs for their latest album 'Hole In The Sun' and they work really well with the old stuff. Some of the stand out songs are 'Tell Your Vision,' 'Drama Queen' and 'Touch Of Madness.'
I'd say the closing number 'You're Gonna Hear From Me' and '(You Can Still) Rock In America' finish the set off perfectly. This is a must have purchase for Night Ranger fans. It's just a shame the band don't visit here often.
I suspect melodic rock fans will be hearing a lot more from this band in the future...
