NFD Deeper Visions Jungle Records (2008)
This visually enhanced 3rd album from gothic metallers NFD is a real touch of class. A polished and well produced set that keeps the dark edge of the band's goth roots.
With two former members of (Fields Of) The Nephilim (bassist Tony Pettitt and drummer Simon Rippin), that late 80s dark goth sound will always be to the fore, but mix that with a touch of mid 90s Megadeth type metal and you get a great modern metal mix. There's also a nod at The Mission and The Cult at their most extreme.
Opening track "When The Sun Dies", also a single, will grab you for sure. The background vocal effects on the well written "Move In Closer" will remind of you late 80s Iron Maiden.
The twin guitars work well, and vocalist Peter White keeps the tone superbly.
If The Damned's 'Phantasmagoria' had been an extreme metal album you'd get the idea.
It's dark, it's metal, it's extreme, it's smooth and professional too. And more cohesive than the previous set.
Six new studio tracks, two remixes and 4 videos you can play on your PC, it will not only please fans but it's a good place to start if you're remotely interested too.
