M.ILL.ION Thrill Of The Chase Metal Heaven(2008)
M.ill.ion are back with possibly their strongest album to date. Amazingly this band has been around since 1989 and each of their albums has seen them refine their melodic hard rock sound.
The opening three songs - the title track, 'Menace To Society' and 'Salve To You' - all have massive hook laden choruses backed by some very tasty Hammond organ fills. Cracking way to start the album and they carry on with 'U.F.O.' - big guitars on this one - and 'Beware The Wolf', which starts slowly and you think it maybe a slow number but then the guitars kick in big time.
'From Heaven To Hell' vocalist Ulrich Carlsson sounds very similar to Gary Barden and indeed the song is very similar to Barden's recent solo output. All this hard rock heaven and not a ballad in sight!
Like Eden's Curse and Evidence One, M.ill.ion really know how to pen catchy melodic hard rock and in M.ill.ion's case they have a big nod to 70's bands like Uriah Heep with the heavy use of Hammond organ and layers of backing vocals. This will make my top albums of the year for sure!
