MICHAEL BORMANN Capture The Moment AOR Heaven (2008)
Former Jaded Heart singer Michael Bormann has produced a very classy melodic rock album, his third solo outing.
There's a consistency to tracks like the opener 'When Push Comes To Shove' and unlike a lot of this genre, the album never descends into the saccharine.
All credit then to Bormann who has written most tracks, and produced and played most of it: there's a high quality quotient. There's nothing especially original here, but if you like sub-Joe Elliot vocals, the guitars grinding in all the right places, and sing-a-long choruses - look no further.
Highlights include 'Come Take Me Higher' (evoking the best of mid-tempo Def Leppard), 'I Will Hold The Line' (which could easily be a 'Voices Of Rock' outtake), 'Don't Bother Me' (with excellent vocals from Sonja Rippelmeier), Doing Or Not (with help from Tommy Denander) and the slower 'Still Haven't Found It'.
